Amflow PX Carbon: Engineering and Performance
Ultra-Lightweight Carbon Engineering
Weight influences almost every aspect of mountain bike performance. Acceleration, changes of direction, suspension response and the ability to manoeuvre through technical sections all benefit from a carefully considered chassis.
The PX Carbon is built around an advanced carbon frame weighing approximately 2.4kg, including the front and rear triangles, suspension links, pivot bearings and associated hardware. Its minimalist construction combines low mass with increased rear triangle stiffness, creating a precise and responsive platform for the powerful Avinox M2S drive system.
The result is an electric mountain bike that feels remarkably composed and agile, with a complete-bike weight starting from just 20.6kg for the PX Carbon Pro in size M with a tubeless configuration.
Geometry Engineered for Precision
The PX Carbon gives riders exceptional control over its handling characteristics, with up to 40 possible geometry configurations.
Five headset angle settings, two bottom bracket positions and four chainstay length settings allow the chassis to be tailored to different terrain, riding styles and personal preferences.
The standard 64.2° head angle can be adjusted by one degree in either direction. A slacker setting increases stability at speed, while a steeper angle provides more direct steering and responsive handling.
This level of adjustment allows riders to fine-tune the relationship between stability, agility and climbing performance without changing the fundamental character of the bike.
Adjustable Chainstay and Wheel Geometry
The PX Carbon's four-position chainstay adjustment system provides a range from 438mm to 451mm.
Shorter settings create a more compact and agile rear end, encouraging responsive cornering and easier changes of direction. Longer settings increase stability and help maintain front-wheel control during steep climbing.
Combined with adjustable bottom bracket height and compatibility with different rear wheel configurations, the system offers an unusually comprehensive approach to chassis tuning.
A Lower Centre of Gravity
The PX Carbon offers two primary bottom bracket height positions, 345mm and 349mm, allowing riders to adjust the bike's relationship with the ground.
The lower setting reduces the centre of gravity, supporting confident cornering and precise handling. The higher setting increases ground clearance, helping reduce pedal strikes when navigating rocky terrain and technical obstacles.
Together with the adjustable headset and chainstay system, this allows the PX Carbon to be configured for different riding priorities.
FOX Suspension: Precision Under Pressure
The PX Carbon's suspension system has been developed with FOX to complement the frame's low weight, progressive geometry and powerful drive system.
Carefully tuned suspension kinematics balance sensitivity over smaller impacts with support through larger compressions, helping the bike maintain traction without sacrificing responsive handling.
The PX Carbon features a 160mm FOX 36 Performance fork and FOX FLOAT X Performance rear shock.
The PX Carbon Pro upgrades to a FOX 36 Factory fork with GRIP X2 damping and a FOX FLOAT X Factory rear shock, offering more sophisticated damping adjustment and control.
Avinox M2S: An Exceptional Power-to-Weight Ratio
The flagship Avinox M2S drive unit delivers extraordinary performance from a remarkably compact package.
Weighing approximately 2.59kg, the motor produces 130Nm of nominal torque and up to 150Nm in Boost mode, with peak power reaching 1,500W under supported operating conditions.
Its high torque density provides powerful assistance without the weight penalty traditionally associated with extremely high-output drive systems.
For the rider, this means rapid acceleration, confident climbing and the ability to maintain momentum through steep or technically demanding sections.
Refined Power Delivery
Maximum torque tells only part of the story. How that power reaches the rear wheel is equally important.
The M2S uses multiple high-precision sensors and intelligent control algorithms to interpret pedalling input and continuously regulate assistance.
Rather than simply delivering maximum output, the system responds progressively to rider effort, helping maintain traction and control when conditions change.
Intelligent Auto mode adapts assistance automatically, while Boost mode provides a temporary increase in output for particularly demanding climbs.
Quieter, More Immersive Riding
The Avinox M2S features an advanced internal gear design that combines compound planetary gearing with helical gears to reduce operating noise.
Amflow reports motor sound levels as low as 45dBA under controlled test conditions.
The result is a drive system designed to minimise mechanical distraction, allowing riders to concentrate on tyre grip, suspension feedback and the trail ahead.
Integrated 700Wh Battery
The PX Carbon's 700Wh battery has been developed as an integral part of the lightweight chassis concept.
Rather than using the removable battery arrangement found on the PR Carbon, the PX employs a fully integrated battery architecture to prioritise a slim frame profile and reduced overall weight.
Custom high-output cells support the substantial power demands of the M2S drive system, while intelligent battery management monitors operating conditions and battery health.
The battery weighs approximately 3.18kg, contributing to the PX Carbon's impressive combination of energy capacity and low mass.
Ultra-Fast Charging
Both PX Carbon variants feature the Avinox 508W fast charging system.
Amflow reports that charging the 700Wh battery from 0% to 80% is approximately three times faster with the 508W charger than with its 168W charger under comparable laboratory conditions.
This high-output charging capability is particularly valuable for riders planning consecutive sessions or looking to recharge between rides.
Extended Energy Capacity
For riders who need additional battery capacity, the PX Carbon supports the optional Avinox RS600 secondary battery on compatible L, XL and XXL frames.
This allows the standard 700Wh integrated system to be supplemented with additional energy storage for longer rides.
The secondary battery is sold separately, and compatibility depends on frame size and configuration.
SRAM Eagle Transmission
Both PX Carbon variants use SRAM Eagle Transmission electronic shifting, providing precise gear selection across a wide-range 10-52T cassette.
The PX Carbon features SRAM S1000 Eagle Transmission, while the PX Carbon Pro upgrades to the premium SRAM X0 Eagle Transmission groupset.
The Pro's upgraded drivetrain offers a more refined component specification, complementing its Factory suspension and carbon wheelset.
Magura Gustav Pro Braking
Both PX Carbon variants feature Magura Gustav Pro four-piston hydraulic disc brakes.
Paired with substantial 203mm rotors, the system is engineered to provide strong, consistent braking performance with excellent modulation.
This shared specification reflects the PX's performance-focused design, ensuring that both variants benefit from premium braking components.
Mixed-Wheel Handling
The PX Carbon uses a 29-inch front wheel and 27.5-inch rear wheel as standard.
The larger front wheel provides confident obstacle clearance and stability, while the smaller rear wheel helps maintain agility and clearance when moving dynamically around the bike.
Schwalbe Magic Mary Radial and Albert Radial tyres complement this configuration, providing a performance-focused combination of front-wheel grip and rear-wheel traction.
The PX Carbon features Amflow alloy wheels, while the PX Carbon Pro upgrades to lightweight Amflow carbon wheels.
OLED Touchscreen and Wireless Controls
The Avinox control system combines a 2-inch OLED touchscreen with compact wireless handlebar controllers.
The display provides access to riding information, assistance modes, battery status and system functions through a clear, intuitive interface.
Wireless controllers allow riders to adjust assistance and operate supported features without taking their hands away from the grips.
The system is designed to keep complex technology in the background, leaving riders free to concentrate on the trail.
Intelligent Navigation and Connectivity
The Avinox Ride app brings route management, riding data and personalised settings together in one connected platform.
GPX, FIT and TCX route files can be imported and transferred to the bike, allowing the integrated display to provide route guidance without requiring a continuous phone connection.
Additional functions include Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, over-the-air software updates and compatible IoT services.
Integrated Lighting
The PX Carbon features an integrated Avinox front light, controlled through the wireless handlebar interface.
Riders can switch the light on or off and select between supported beam settings with a simple button press.
The result is a neatly integrated lighting solution that avoids unnecessary handlebar clutter and remains easy to operate while riding.
Intelligent Security and Bike Protection
The Avinox system supports connected security features including movement detection, remote locating and bike protection functions.
These features can provide additional reassurance when the bike is unattended, with availability depending on connectivity, configuration and the relevant service.
The PX Carbon Pro includes an IoT service provision, while the standard PX Carbon requires a separately purchased IoT Nano SIM for certain connected functions.
Heart Rate Controlled Assistance
The Avinox drive system can also use heart rate data to regulate motor assistance.
When paired with a compatible heart rate monitor, riders can select a target heart rate zone through the Avinox Ride app. The system then adjusts assistance in response to changing effort.
This provides an interesting option for structured training, endurance riding and managing effort during sustained climbs.
